For many, 1973 seems very far in the past – to others it might feel like yesterday. After all, Richard Nixon was President, “American Graffiti” was one of the top movies and Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain” was the top song of the year. Momentous
events were in the news; Watergate, the end of the Viet Nam war and… the birth of a new PCA Region. Yes, 1973 was the year that Schattenbaum became New Jersey’s third chartered Region of the Porsche Club of America (preceded by Northern New Jersey and Jersey Shore Regions) thus providing a home for Porsche Pushers in Central and Southwestern New Jersey.
Next year – 2013 – will be Schattenbaum Region’s Fortieth Anniversary and anniversaries are big occasions (just ask anyone who is married and forgot one). The Club is not going to let the big 4-0 go by without a suitable event or two. To be sure, we
plan to celebrate but exactly how we do it is up to our membership. How should we
celebrate the Club’s 40th anniversary? Should we have a really big celebration over a
multi-event weekend? Should it be a single event, or should we hold a series of events
during the driving season? We need input and members (or spouses) who would like to
help plan the festivities. All ideas will be considered and all volunteers will be appreciated!
THIS IS A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS!
If you are interested in helping to make Schattenbaum’s 40th Anniversary a memorable one please send Alex an e-mail: pres@schattenbaum.org or contact any of the Board Members.
