2012 Website Updates!
Rob Cohen

Hello again and Happy New Year.
This year we will be making more use of the Schattenbaum website than ever before to help keep you informed and up-to-date. Our homepage now has more content which will always stay in the same location. On the right side you’ll see the News & Events section that will provide brief descriptions of events happening in the next three months. You can Like us on Facebook and Find us on Facebook in the Facebook section. On the left side of the homepage you’ll see our new Cars n’ Coffee section - keep an eye on this for information regarding the next driving meets. Current and past issues of our newsletter will still be located on the Newsletter page, however a new page will be added to the website called Newsroom that will provide all the usual goodies from the newsletter such as articles, new members welcome, President’s message, etc. It will be the most active section of the website, so
please visit it often! I hope you find these changes informative and easy to locate. Please email me if you have any suggestions to improve our website.
Best regards for a great year ahead!

It's now the Off-Season; use it to get ready for the On-Season

Track season starts in a few months. Get your car and yourself ready:

THE CAR: It deserves a thorough going-over by your dealer, mechanic or race shop. Oil change, new brake fluid. Check pads/rotors, Check Gearbox oil. Check wheel bearings (they can fail without warning!). Are all hoses properly tightened? How are your tires?  Spare Parts?  Be thorough! Planning any upgrades? Get them done in the dead of winter before the shop fills up as spring approaches.

YOU: Helmet up-to-date? SA 2005 or 2010 is required. Think about a HANS (or similar) device -- it's expensive, but you only have 1 neck. How long has it been since you've had a physical exam? What about an eye exam?

President's Corner - Alex HilgetagMinimize
WOW, its 2012 - I can’t believe it. While most people write about how quick the past year went, I think I feel a bit differently. So much went on in 2011 - my first year as President - that it seemed to go on forever. It is always fun to look at a clean slate and plan great things for the future, but I like to look back and review where we’ve been.
We started out last spring with a great event at New Jersey Motorsports Park in March. We combined a driving tour, BBQ and Driver’s Ed event all in one to offer a little something for everyone. In typical Schattenbaum fashion, it was fun as well as easy going. In fact, I got a lot of emails the following week about how much fun it was. This year we are going to do it again and hopefully a few more members will join us [See more about this tour below].
Last year was also a year when we had new twists on old favorites. We continued some great events like the Wine Taster’s Concours, Lobster Run and our annual Spring Social, but there were new locations for each of them. Without exception the results were very good. The new venues for what have traditionally been great outings just freshened up the events and made them better. The Wine Taster’s car show at Almathea Winery in Atco was a very pleasant surprise for most. Even Mother Nature loved it and held off the rain till 5 minutes after the event was over. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for our Family Summer Picnic or the Scahttenbaum Showdown PCA Club Race. I have never seen so much rain! In fact Hurricane Irene took it upon herself to visit the Club Race. It is absolutely insane how much water came from the sky on these two August events. It was so bad that I didn’t even feel the relief from our July heat waves.
Well, hopefully no earthquakes, heat waves or hurricanes will diminish the appeal of this year’s events. I do know that even it if does we will continue another great Schattenbaum year.

The VP’s Vibe

Greetings and Salutations on the New Year and Welcome to Shattenbaum 2012
edition. On behalf of the entire executive board I want to wish you and your families the
happiest and most healthy New Year.
Hopefully among all of those New Year’s resolutions to eat healthier, exercise more, and always check your tire pressures you included attending even more Shatten-Happnins in 2012. We have some great events lined up that you won’t want to miss. Whether your interests are track, concours, touring or just socializing there is something for everyone. In addition to a full DE and race schedule we have our annual Spring Social, Summer Picnic, Wine Tasters Concour and a bunch of more casual Cars n’ Coffee get togethers.

We plan to have monthly meetings that bring you out in record numbers. In addition to being your Vice President I am also the Program Chair so if you have an idea for any type of event let us know and we will do our best to make it happen. Remember it’s all about the people - it’s your Club and we welcome suggestions on how to make it even better.

I hope to see you and yours at an upcoming meeting or event. Until then, keep those cards and letters coming.
